Convio develops innovative solutions to help nonprofits become more effective and efficient in pursuing their fundraising and advocacy causes. We are expanding our agency services capabilities and seeking an experienced leader for our User Experience consulting team. This team of Information Architects and Designers offers cutting edge consulting expertise to our clients, helping them to research, plan, organize, design, and create successful, scalable user experiences for their Convio-powered websites. We are searching for an innovative, people-oriented, strategic manager who can oversee a team of diverse practitioners. The candidate should have strong client facing skills and an expert-level competency in user-centered design principles. Candidate needs to be proactive, entrepreneurial, creative and experienced in coaching team members to adapt to a fast moving market. This position will office out of our DC or Austin office.
Key Responsibilities
• Attract, retain, and challenge a high performing team of information architects and designers – keeping growing their skills as needed to remain competitive in the marketplace
• Mentor team members by helping them to develop project approaches, reviewing deliverables, and providing targeted feedback and coaching
• Ability to quickly understand a client’s business objectives, design client solutions, assemble client facing execution teams, execute on schedule/budget
• Enhance and enforce methodologies to ensure successful on-time, on-budget project delivery
• Define and measure success metrics to demonstrate ROI on client engagements
• Support new business opportunities – including presentations and RFP responses
• Set the thought leadership agenda for Convio in the areas of user-centered design, information architecture, visual design, content strategy, and online best practices for nonprofits
• Identify opportunities for thought leadership by the team and help team members to gain industry visibility as experts
• Contribute to a culture of innovation and collaboration across the larger Business & Strategy Consulting practice team
Key Qualifications
• Demonstrated success in a fast-paced, interactive-agency-style environment, including a minimum of 5 years management or leadership experience
• Minimum 8 years industry experience working in a strategic capacity to develop websites or other online communities with advanced expertise in user-centered design principles and all sub-disciplines of the user experience practice – including online user behavior, user research, usability, information architecture, editorial consulting, accessibility, visual design, interaction design, and animation
• Knowledge of and experience with online marketing best practices, including social media and effective online campaigns
• Expert people management, project management, time management, writing and presentation skills
• Ability to translate technical concepts to a non-technical audience, and comfort communicating with client contacts at all levels of an organization, including executives
• Ability to make clear, compelling sales presentations and scope the level of effort for new projects
• Experience working with content management systems, strong understanding of core Web development concepts, and a passion for interactive technologies and techniques
• Ability to build strong cross-functional relationships and collaborate closely with team members, managers, and executives across the company
• Master’s degree in Information, HCI, User Experience, Communication, Marketing, Design or related field preferred
• Nonprofit industry knowledge preferred but not mandatory
